Creating Children's Book

I have created a children's book on topic "Teach your Children Well" after I read the interesting Life of Olaudah Equiano which is about the experience of the slavery. Therefore, I wrote a story about a slavery that children could easily understand the idea of slavery.

Eddie could not fell asleep. He thought of his family who will be waiting for him to come home. He missed them a lot. “I should not be captured here. ”He mumbled. He thought about the thing that happened to him this morning.

He was so afraid. In the darkness, Eddie kept cried and cried.   He did not know what to do.  He strongly wished to get out of this place where hundreds of people laid down just like him, nearly attached to each other.

Assuming long hours have passed, when Eddie noticed that the old man next to him was awake, he asked him carefully and quietly. “Do you know any idea where we are going?” when the old man turned his head to Eddie’s face, Eddie was shocked. The old man had a grumpiest face that Eddie has ever seen before. “Have no idea where we are going!” he shouted. “We just have to work for those evil white people out there!” Eddie still did not know what he was talking about.

Days passed, the smell of the place even got worse and screams of hunger made Eddie frightened. Suddenly, he heard a noise from way left to him, where was the old man was. Because the noises seemed something terrible thing has happened, Eddie quickly closed his eyes. “The man died.” The old said. It was a first time to Eddie to hear the death. He could not believe it. Eddie thought that he could be the one who can be like the dead man.

His sight was very dark. He closed his eyes slowly. Only ocean sound was waving out the ship.

Next morning, Eddie and other slaves got to get out of the under the ship. The sun was too bright for Eddie to see that he barely opened his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he saw the land. He was so happy to see it. As the ship went near the land, Eddie saw a bunch of people who look just like him lining up. Eddie was so happy to see them but all of their faces looked sad.

Mumbled: v. talking not clearly – usually in the low voice

(Underlined words are for the children who might not know the words.)
